So you have to wait until August for the next gridiron bout at Mile High stadium. No problem: Pose for your prayers and holler a shout out for miracles, as this Adventure will have you running through a gauntlet that'll make linebackers seem like ballerinas. Join us for a four-mile, obstacle-laden Spartan race with food, prizes, and swag.
We'll gather at the Ginn Mill in LoDo the evening of May 5, where our team will be waiting to hand out pre-registration packets between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. There, we'll dine on a pre-race meal from The Denver Pizza Company to get us ready for the following day's activity. Expect pasta with marinara and meatballs, chicken and fettuccini, or meatless pasta dishes. Also included are breadsticks, a side salad, and a beer or well drink.
The next day, depending on the timeslot we pick, we'll meet at Fort Carson just south of Colorado Springs, wearing our best mud racing gear (sneakers and sporty clothes you don't mind sullying). The Colorado Spartan Sprint race course is designed by the 4th Infantry and Specials Forces units, and includes mud pits, trail racing, boot camp obstacles, and surprising hurdles that will have your endorphin and adrenaline levels peaking higher than Mount Taygetus. All racers can look forward to a medal, a T-shirt, a beer ticket, and a LivingSocial sweatband—and top male and female LivingSocial finishers win entry into a future race.
Once we've crossed the finish line, we'll celebrate our accomplishment (and refuel our sore bodies) at a Cinco De Mayo after-party, where we'll mingle with other racers as we use our beer ticket to refresh with a brew. Consider this afternoon of serious obstacles (and serious fun) the warm-up for pre-season... albeit with more mud.
