Sure, we've got the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, the sculpture garden at the Walker Art Center, and more than our fair share of live theater, but exciting new art forms can be hard to come by. If you need a break from the usual media, open a window to a new world with this Adventure: an evening of glassblowing at the Foci Minnesota Center for Glass Arts, followed by a beer tasting with light snacks.
Head to Foci, where our gang of glass-tronauts will be on hand to help make our event run smoothly. After splitting up into groups of four, we'll get a two-hour hands-on lesson in the art of glassblowing—including instruction in how to make our own specially crafted beer glass—from Foci's experienced instructors. (But we'll have to wait for 24 hours before we can sip seasonal ales from our own handmade glasses, since they need time to cool and take shape.)
When we've shattered even our own artistic expectations, we'll sip on a menagerie of four specialty beers courtesy of the Great Waters Brewing Company—St. Paul's award-winning craft brewery—along with a side of Bac-N-Beer Nuts. We'll cap off the night with full access to Foci's all-glass gallery featuring contributions from the medium's most exciting artists. It's pane-fully clear: This is one Adventure that'll have you viewing the world of cutting-edge art through a new lens.
