Admit it: When you learned about ancient Greece in school, part of you wanted to don a flowing robe and smite your enemies. At long last, you can get into the Greek groove with this almighty Adventure: access to the Pacific Northwest Spartan Sprint—an adrenaline-fueled outdoor obstacle race like no other—with optional transportation.
For those who purchase transportation, meet at the Experience Music Project in Seattle (325 5th Avenue North), where we'll get a pre-race snack (banana along with juice or water) and board a bus bound for Washougal MX Park, a motocross park that's been converted to an obstacle course for the day. (Those of us with our own transportation can head straight to the park.) On arrival, we'll meet our Adventures team who will be waiting to help us limber up and put our game faces on.
After some pre-race stretching, we'll line up to face this course, which has been touted as one of the toughest of all Spartan Race courses (according to our inside Spartan sources). Both beginners and marathoners alike will feel challenged. With more than ten obstacles (think: barbed wire crawls, fire pits, and tons and tons of mud), this trek will put both our mental and physical states to the test. Plus, the top two male and female finishers will qualify for a free entry into a Super Spartan Race of their choice.
Once we bolt across the finish line, we'll get exclusive access to a LivingSocial area, along with a divine set of duds, including a LivingSocial sweatband, Spartan Race T-shirt, and a finisher's medal; as well as games and photo opportunities. We'll also get one beer ticket each (additional food and beer will be available for purchase from vendors at the race). It's time to heed the call of the siren and demonstrate our omnipotence with an outdoor challenge fit for the gods.
