Down-home cuisine with classic Southern flavors is as much a part of Atlanta's culture as a certain soft drink and valet parking. Add some local seasoning to your own culinary repertoire—and hone your kitchen skills while you're at it—with this gourmet Adventure: a five-course farm-to-table cooking experience with wine and an interactive farmers' market visit.
We'll start by heading to Hal's Kitchen—the Atlanta area's newest, state-of-the-art cooking school—where our gang of gastronomes will be waiting to check us in. Next, the two chefs from Hal's will whisk us over to the Sandy Springs Farmers' Market, where we'll mix it up with local farmers and chat about their goods as the chefs select fresh ingredients for our meal that afternoon.
Back at Hal's, we'll peel off into two groups and jump into the fire with a hands-on cooking lesson in one of the school's modern kitchens, pitching in on the preparation of a five-course meal, including Mexican street corn; southern-style roasted ratatouille; cornmeal cakes with local herb goat cheese whip; Logan Turnpike local grits with bacon-wrapped Georgia shrimp; and rustic blackberry tart. We'll then sit down to enjoy our creations family-style, and sip on a delicious glass of wine. A take-home gift, discounts on kitchen equipment from Hal's retail store, and 20% off of a future class are all icing on the cake. Put down that cola and park yourself at Hal's for a blend of food and fun that's sure to spice up your dinner table for years to come.
