With the craziness of summer in full swing, you're already in a hurry for things to slow down. Take a break from the frenetic activity with a day coasting on the water, thanks to this perfectly paced Adventure: a day of whitewater kayaking on the Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers in Harpers Ferry, followed by a local vineyard visit on select Saturdays and Sundays this summer.
We'll meet at Harpers Ferry Adventure Center, where our LivingSocial pace-setters will be waiting to check us in. Next, we'll get our very own inflatable kayak (known as a duckie), all other necessary equipment, and a short safety lesson before heading out for two to three hours of whitewater kayaking on the Class I and II+ rapids of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers.
After a quick lunch break on the river, we'll follow our guides back ashore, change into some dryer clothes (make sure to bring some along), and hop on our private shuttle to Grandale Farm, a farm-to-table restaurant on a historic farm and vineyard overlooking a stunning meadow and peach orchard. From there, we'll slow things down with a relaxed afternoon at the vineyard, complete with a $10 gift card to the vineyard and additional discounts on wine tastings, full bottles of wine, and gourmet food specials. When we've hit our limit, we'll shuttle back to HFAC before heading home. If you're looking to accelerate your relaxation schedule, this Adventure is full speed ahead.
