Chicago may be the home of substantial gustatory delights like deep-dish pizza and fully loaded hot dogs, but when it comes to food, the city is far from one-size-fits-all. Expose your palate to delights of a smaller stature—and see how your culinary skills measure up—with this Adventure: a BYOB authentic Mexican and Latin-fusion tapas cooking class.
We'll start by heading to Kitchen Chicago, where our tremendous team will be waiting to size us up and check us in. We'll spend the next two hours learning about the diminutive art of tapas—with a big-time Latin twist—from the chefs at Taquero Fusion and the Tamale Spaceship, two of Chicago's oldest and best food trucks. The class will cover a range of dishes, including tamales, savory and sweet empanadas, taquitos, guacamole, and plantain chips. Better still, this will all happen in the middle of the same action-packed industrial kitchen where the food trucks prep their own food, offering us a glimpse of how the professionals do it.
While some of our dishes cook, we'll snack on our cold tapas creations and wash them down with whatever beverages we choose to bring along. At the end of the event, we'll take home measuring cups and recipe cards for all of the food we made.
