The Space Needle is fine for people who like high winds and fast elevators, but, true to its glacial roots, Lake Union is the perfect place to slow things down and enjoy a lazy Seattle evening. If the downtown scene has you feeling rushed, head to the lake for this perfectly paced Adventure: A guided sunset kayaking tour on Lake Union, followed by a tequila tasting with food and drink specials at a nearby Mexican restaurant.
We'll start by heading to Moss Bay Row, Kayak, Sail, and Paddle Board Center, where our team of LivingSocial laggards will be waiting to check us in. Next, we'll get all the necessary equipment—along with a short lesson on safety and the basics of kayaking—before easing out onto the water for an approximately two-hour guided tour of Lake Union. We'll paddle leisurely past sites like Gas Works Park, the lake's houseboat communities, and the Windermere bird sanctuary—all in full view of the gorgeous city skyline as the sun sets over the horizon.
When we're ready to pick up the pace ever so gently, we'll head for shore and take a stroll over to nearby Cactus Southwest Kitchen and Bar in South Lake Union (about 15 minutes by foot or just a few minutes by car), where we'll enjoy a tasting of three different varieties of Avión tequila (Reposado, Silver, and Añejo), as well as chips and salsa. Afterward, we'll be able to enjoy drinks and food from a special discounted happy hour menu, exclusive to LivingSocial, full of delicious Tex-Mex fare. Think roasted corn and poblano quesadillas, grilled stuffed jalapeños, blue corn calamari, and more, with most munchies priced between $4 and $6. Don't get harried by all the hurry—this slow-motion lake Adventure is just your speed.
