With our astronomically tall skyscrapers, elevated trains, and the nation's first planetarium, it's almost as if Chicagoans have been actively trying to get closer to the heavens (or maybe just farther away from the crowds on Michigan Avenue). If you've been feeling a little grounded lately, take to the skies—and feel like a star while you're at it—with this Adventure: an introductory lesson in trapeze and other aerial acrobatics, followed by dinner and drinks at a neighborhood bistro.
Choose from one of two class times (afternoon or evening on Fridays this fall and winter) and head to the Trapeze School of New York's Chicago indoor campus, where our sky-gazing team will be waiting to check us in. Next, we'll launch into orbit with an introductory lesson in the flying trapeze from the school's experienced instructors, as well as our choice of two other acrobatic skills: silks, trampoline, acrobatic yoga, or static trapeze. (Since the weather can be a bit mercurial during the chillier months, be sure to wear tights, yoga pants, or snug sweatpants, and socks.)
After 2.5 hours performing gravity-defying stunts—all in an expansive indoor armory in the Edgewater neighborhood of Chicago—we'll come back down to Earth and head to a nearby American bistro, Broadway Cellars, where we'll vacuum up a complimentary dinner with drinks. Trust us: you won't need a telescope to see that this Adventure is out of this world.
