You've always dreamt of a trip to Germany to celebrate Oktoberfest, but your bank account keeps telling you "nein." If you're looking for the authentic German experience—without the hassles of a last-minute European getaway—opt for the next best thing with this Adventure: an Oktoberfest excursion to Helen with snacks, plenty of beer, and round-trip transportation from the city.
We'll start by heading to Rising Roll in Sandy Springs, where our fest-loving team will be waiting to usher us onto a luxury coach bus. Once aboard, we'll receive a complimentary snack pack for the road (apple, Kashi bar, homemade cookie, crackers, water, and a mint), and set off for Helen—an authentic German-themed town north of Atlanta that comes alive for the month of October. To make us forget the fact that route 400 isn't exactly the Autobahn, we'll make a pit stop at the Beer Growler in Suwanee, where we'll each get a 32-ounce growler of craft beer.
Once we've arrived in Helen, we'll be dropped of at a local bar with an Oktoberfest map and head out into the town for four hours of bar-hopping in one of the best Oktoberfest celebrations this side of Munich. We'll want to be sure to bring along extra Deutschmarks—er, dollars—for food and drinks, and to gain access to the full range of awesome Oktoberfest activities around town. When we've had it up to herr with hefeweizen, we'll hop back on the bus for the trip home. Oktoberfest in Germany might have to wait, but this Adventure is sure to have you yodeling "Ich bin ein Helen-er" for years to come.
