Burritos, chimichangas, enchiladas, tacos—when it comes to wrapping delicious flavors in an equally delectable outer layer, Mexican food has you covered. Wrap your mind around a different kind of Mexican treat with this Adventure: a tamales and tequila tasting at a hip LA taco bar, complete with a tamale-making lesson and five take-home tamales.
We'll start by heading to Candela Taco Bar—a swanky Latin lounge on South La Brea offering some of the most tantalizing Mexican fare around—where our crew of cornhusking cocineros will be waiting to greet us. Once we're fully in the fold, we'll kick things off with a tasting of two tamales (choice of beef, chicken, or veggie) and three tequilas.
After we've sated our appetite, we'll get a hands-on lesson in tamale making from one of the restaurant's experienced chefs—combining delicious filling and masa before wrapping it up in a corn husk. We'll each make five tamales with our preferred choice of filling. Best of all, we'll get to bring our handiwork home to steam, unwrap, and enjoy whenever we choose.
