It's bumper-to-bumper on 400 again, which means you're doing one of two things: shouting yourself hoarse at the idiot in front of you, or actually considering making a horse your primary mode of transportation. If you'd gladly trade your twelve-gallon gas tank for a ten-gallon hat and a trusty steed, saddle up for this rustic Adventure: a BYOB horseback riding outing, complete with wagon ride, gourmet country dinner, and campfire with S'mores.
We'll start by trotting over to Gold City Corral & Carriage Company—a beautiful ranch resort property in Dahlonega near the foothills of the North Georgia Mountains—where our team of elite equestrians will be waiting to greet us and check us in. We'll get things started right out of the gate with a one-hour guided horseback ride along the corral's scenic trails before leaving our mounts behind and hopping aboard a horse-drawn wagon for a 20-minute tour of the property, passing by the gorgeous surrounding foothills en route to the Forrest Hills restaurant.
At Forrest Hills, we'll be dropped off in a secret garden, where we'll pull up to the trough—er, table—and chow down on a gourmet country meal of hearty rib-eye steak, barbecue chicken, baked beans, potato salad, coleslaw, and rolls, followed by a cobbler for dessert along with coffee and tea. After dinner, we'll circle the wagons around a roaring campfire and enjoy the crisp evening air while we make our own S'mores. From there, it's back to the corral for our departure -- or to check out some of the many other activities at Dahlonega, like apple picking and shopping. Your car's not going anywhere anytime soon, so why not hoof it with an Adventure that'll make you say "whoa."
