Dodging trams is not our idea of fun. But doing so in the passenger seat with a first-time learner driver at the wheel is a sure way to get grey highlights! Until they introduce a special lane for bunny hopping L-platers, minimise the alarm factor by having someone else (and their fully-insured, dual-controlled car) teach the ins, outs and roundabouts of driving. For just $29, your enthusiastic newbie can have two professional lessons from LAPS Driving School (normally $64). Available for lessons from Monday to Sunday (8am to 5pm), the instructors are fully qualified and government accredited, and teach safe, rule-based techniques, which deliver everyone back to base intact. Don't suffer from PBS (Phantom Brake Syndrome), send them down the road with the pros!
