We all love ogling the glossy photos in cookbooks and dreaming of the food that will come off the stove as we work through the recipes. You'll get far more from a cookbook than a meal on the table with this Gourmet offer: A series of three-course wine dinners featuring celebrity chef-authors at Davio's Northern Italian Steakhouse ($85) with chef Andy Husbands (April 30), food writer John Mariani (May 21), and chef Maria Liberati (June 18). The price includes a signed copy of the author's book, as well as gratuity and all other fees.

Husbands, chef at Boston's Tremont 647 and Sister Sorel and author of "Wicked Good Barbecue," will present a meaty menu that includes pulled-pork sliders with bacon-bit buns and red slaw, spatchcock chicken with a side of fried mac 'n' cheese, and beef brisket with smoked oxtail and cheesy potato gratin. Esquire magazine columnist John Mariani will discuss the historic evolution of Italian cuisine, the subject of his book "How Italian Food Conquered the World," which includes recipes for simple marinara sauce and polenta with burrata and caviar. Maria Liberati, once called the "Martha Stewart of Italian cooking," will present her introductory book, "The Basic Art of Italian Cooking." Recipes from the memoir-cookbook include gnocchi and linguine with clams.

Whichever author is behind your multi-faceted feast, you'll get an education—and a new cookbook to add to that collection.
