The competition team Smokehouse 10 has racked up plenty of accolades for their tender, juicy ribs, succulent chicken, and other favorites -- so they're the ones we want teaching us the ways of the grill:
• $99 ($250 value) for a competition-level barbecue class
• Classes last 6 to 8 hours and are held on weekends
Join Pit Master Dave Tendick of the award-winning barbecue team as they discuss their passion for outdoor cooking and intention of creating dishes that every backyard chef can easily replicate at home. These classes are designed for everyone from first-time grillers to those wanting to learn a few new tips or to fine tune their barbecue skills. Everything that is prepared during class will be served and savored by participants.
This fun class covers the basics of barbecue, what it really means, different methods of cooking, various meats and fish preparations, how to properly smoke meats using different types of cooking equipment, and more. You'll learn to make sauces, rubs, injections, and marinades, and to differentiate cuts and types of commonly (and not-so-commonly) used meats. Plus, the instructors will try to cover any specific areas of interests that you have.
