details

From 40 OZ. to Freedom to its self-titled 1996 hit album, the band Sublime churned out a funky punk-meets-rap-on-a-reggae-beat sound for a solid five years, until it halted its existence altogether. Now, the band is back with a brand new singer under the name of Sublime with Rome and with today's deal you can catch this classic act at new Williamsburg Park outdoor concert venue, located about a block from the East River. Hand over $27 for a general admission ticket to the August 24 show at 5:30 p.m. (doors open at 4:30 p.m.). Despite its hiatus, the band works a groove similar to its '90s sound -- albeit with less of an edge -- into its latest album Yours Truly, which was released last year. Songs like, Can You Feel It, Only, and Lovers Rock lean heavily on island beats, drawing from traditional reggae, while Panic speeds things up to a ska level. Whether or not you've always been a fan, with this deal, it's worth finding out just how sublime this band still is.
