Don’t let the name fool you: Today’s deal has nothing to do with droopy-eyed waitresses in hairnets serving up burnt bacon and runny eggs. Instead, Capitol Hill’s quaint neighborhood bistro, Dinette, is dishing out $40 for $20 to nosh on its rustic European-accented menu of ricotta gnocchi, duck leg confit, and tortilla espanola. Yet, with a card leaning heavily on toast (albeit delivered fresh from Columbia City Bakery and topped with rapini pesto, herb frittata, and gorgonzola with toasted walnuts), both Hillsters and foodies can loosen their ties in chef/owner Melissa Nyffeler’s funky, paper lantern-lit joint. Throw in a full cocktail and wine list, and you’ll be in no hurry to hop back in your Fiat and drive off.
