April showers may bring May flowers -- but you'd rather see a musician pluck strings than bouquets. With today's deal from John Brown Music Group, pay $12 (regularly $25) and harvest one ticket to the performance of "Such Sweet Thunder" at The Cotton Room on April 26. In this concert, Brown and his 15-piece band will play a suite of pieces composed by Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn, which were inspired by the works of Shakespeare. Born in Fayetteville, bassist and composer John Brown began performing professionally in his teens; has played with Wynton Marsalis, Rosemary Clooney, and the North Carolina Symphony, and for President Obama; and has even earned a Grammy nomination. Doors open at 7 p.m. at this East Main Street venue -- where sweet notes are sure to be followed by thunderous applause.
