If Hollywood and the Mayans are to be believed, we're heading toward a doozy of a December. Even if you don't buy into the whole apocalyptic hubbub, it never hurts to be prepared. Today's deal is here to help: Pay $45 (regularly $90) for infant, child, and adult CPR, AED, and first-aid certification with Cardio Health CPR and First Aid. The five-hour course is taught in small, interactive groups on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday mornings and afternoons in May, June, and July at The Inn at Port Gardner in Everett. It covers the American Heart Association's standards for CPR, including what to do when you see signs of a heart attack, stroke, or choking, and how to use a defibrillator (the machine used to shock someone in cardiac arrest). You'll also learn first-aid skills for the most common types of medical emergency, including seizures, fainting, choking, bleeding, and severe allergic reactions, and learn how to administer an Epi Pen. At the end of the session, you'll earn the AHA certification card to prove your first-aid prowess. It won't be the end of the world if you miss this half-off deal... or will it?
