An Atlantic Avenue staple for more than 25 years, Il Giardino Ristorante offers some of the best Italian fare at the beach:
• $25 for $50 to spend on food and non-alcoholic drink
• Bustling dining room features dark woods, Italy-inspired tiles, and steams of natural light
• Don't miss: rigatoni with fennel and sausage, classic penne alla vodka, & mozzarella caprese
• In-house pastry chef fashions desserts like a flaky Napoleon & coffee liqueur-infused tiramisu
A Moment of Triumph in Italy
Il Giardino co-owner Tony Gargiulo first spotted the wood-burning oven now housed in his Virginia Beach eatery back in 1983 on a trip to Florence. Determined to have the inspirational oven in his new restaurant, Gargiulo adopted the stove -- one of the first of its kind in Virginia. You'll want to taste the fresh-baked focaccia and bubbling, made-to-order pies now turned out of this nearly 30-years-young, wood-burning centerpiece.
