90% recommendedin LivingSocial customer ratings
On July 29, 2013, a baby elephant was born at Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo -- and she joins a seven-month-old elephant calf named Mpumi as the herd's two newest and cutest members:
• $12 ($25 value) for full-day admission to the zoo for an adult (aged 12 & older)
• $10 ($20 value) for full-day admission to the zoo for a child (aged 3 to 11)
• Kids ages 2 and younger get in free
The newborn is the second elephant calf born in Tampa from a herd of 11 elephants rescued from Swaziland, Africa, and brought to the U.S. a decade ago. These baby pachyderms are part of an important breeding and conservation program focused on elephant species survival -- and their presence raises awareness for African elephants in trouble in the wild. After marveling at these magnificent creatures, enjoy the rest of the zoo, which boasts more than 1,500 animals housed on more than 60 acres of lush, natural habitats -- including the Florida manatee, a relative of the elephant.
