What Is a Shiatsu Massage Like?
Shiatsu is performed while you're fully clothed -- remember to wear loose/comfortable clothing -- and lying on the floor, supported by a comfortable mattress and pillows. The practitioner gently applies pressure by using the palms of her hands, thumbs, and even elbows, all while listening to the body and moving steadily along the meridians. Light stretching is also employed at intervals, and the whole service ends with a head, neck, and shoulder massage.
