Why You Should Visit
At this museum -- which is associated with the Smithsonian Institution -- permanent exhibits allow visitors to experience a simulated atmospheric blast, see how radiation is tracked, learn modern methods of surviving an atomic bomb, and more. Among the museum's collection of more than 12,000 artifacts are an I-beam section and fragment of sheet metal from the World Trade Center, and a piece of the Berlin Wall.
