On 8 November 2013, Typhoon Haiyan viciously whipped the Philippines, destroying entire towns across the provinces and wiping out power and communications. According to the United Nations, this is one of the biggest and strongest typhoon to ever hit land, affecting nearly 12.9 million people. Over 10,000 lives are believed to have been lost and those who have survived are now struggling to live without food, shelter or clean drinking water.

World Vision to raise USD20 million for survivors of Typhoon Haiyan
"Typhoon Haiyan has affected 20 of our Area Development Programmess (ADPs) and has impacted, in varying degree, communities where we work with around 40,000 registered children," says Liew Tong Ngan, Chief Executive Officer of World Vision Malaysia.

"While the full impact of Haiyan is yet to be known, we foresee a long and arduous road in the rebuilding ahead. We appeal to Malaysians and the international community to come alongside us and extend a much-needed helping hand to the survivors."

World Vision is appealing for USD20 million to assist 400,000 people affected by this significant humanitarian disaster. Just RM10 will help to provide food, clean water, essential household supplies, hygiene kits and emergency shelter to the survivors.
