Hotel at a Glance: Grand Sierra Resort and Casino

In USA Today’s 2018 10 Best Awards, readers voted Grand Sierra the No. 3 Best Casino Outside of Las Vegas. The casino is the resort’s crown jewel, stretching across more than 80,000 square feet lined with gaming tables and multiple types of slots. But the 4-star resort doesn’t just cater to the 21-or-older crowd—it also has all-ages activities like bowling and bumper cars for guests traveling with kids.

  • Multiple restaurants ranging from Certified Angus Beef USDA prime steaks at Charlie Palmer Steak to Italian dishes and pho at the Grand Buffet
  • Bringing the heat: An outdoor pool area with fire pits is open all year
  • Family-friendly fun: Grownups and little ones can skate around a seasonal ice rink or play arcade games
  • Best way to spend winnings: indulging in a spa treatment like a Swedish massage

Reno, Nevada: Casino City with Arts and Outdoor Adventure

Reno lives up to its billing as “The Biggest Little City in the World” thanks to its flashy casinos, cultural centers, and restaurants worthy of a much larger metropolis, all packed together on Virginia Street. If you need a break from courting Lady Luck at the big gaming palaces such as Circus Circus and Harrah’s (which was born here), head to the Truckee River Arts District to explore the Nevada Museum of Art and the National Automobile Museum. Because of its location at the foot of the Sierra Nevada and just east of Tahoe National Forest, the city also puts visitors within reach of rushing rivers and high mountain ranges for hiking, rafting, and gold-rush reenacting.

2 queens. The hotel was great but we had to have the 2nd room recleaned and resanitized. We had to wait almost 4 hours to get the room and when they brought us the key the room REAKED of Marijuana and filthy!!! We'll definitely go back but that experience was awful because we paid for an extra room for our kids and we waited to get that?
