Williamsburg, Brooklyn: Ultratrendy Neighborhood Across the East River from Manhattan

In a game of word association, “Williamsburg” is likely to elicit a common response: “hipster.” The popular neighborhood, located opposite Manhattan’s Lower East Side, has become synonymous with young people and bohemian living. This relationship dates as far back as the 1980s, when the first artists and musicians began crossing the East River in search of cheaper rents. In recent years, Williamsburg has gentrified bigtime. And though many artists have now been priced out of the neighborhood, they’ve left behind a constellation of galleries, music venues, dive bars, and some of New York’s best restaurants.

Though the ultratrendy Williamsburg can feel like it’s a world away from Manhattan, in reality it’s quite close. Three subway lines, the Williamsburg Bridge, and even a water taxi provide easy access to the next borough over. For visual confirmation of Manhattan’s proximity, visit East River State Park, a 7-acre green space with sweeping views of the Manhattan skyline. Afterward, consider swinging by one of the many restaurants on Grand Street.

The hotel smelled lovely when we walked in. The rooms were very clean and cute. The staff was friendly and helpful. I thought this hotel was going to be in the Williamsburg neighborhood. It definitely was not very close to this neighborhood. It was in the Bushwick neighborhood. It got a little dicey at night but was fine during the day. The train was very close to our room window!

There was a funny aesthetic with the showers. You can see through the showers in the bedroom of the hotel when the lights are on.

Don't even know if I can be fair, room was decent clean, kinda nice, area was cool. Checked in wit no problem. Later on in the night a guest of mines who wasnt stayin at the hotel was approached aggressively by the overnight guy at the front desk. She called him a name, he decided to kick me out. So my 3 day stay was actually a few hrs, hopefully management can provide some kinda refund.
