Wilshire, Los Angeles: Shopping, Restaurants, and Museums near Hollywood

Wilshire Boulevard runs for 15 miles through the heart of Los Angeles, ending at Ocean Avenue in Santa Monica. On a stretch of Wilshire called the Miracle Mile, between Fairfax Boulevard and La Brea Boulevard, you’ll find Museum Row. Four of LA’s most notable institutions are clustered here: the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Craft and Folk Art Museum, the Petersen Automotive Museum, and the Page Museum. Preserved Ice Age fossils of mammoths and saber-toothed tigers are on display at the latter, which neighbors the famous La Brea Tar Pits.

The bright lights of Hollywood are just a short drive away. To see the cemented handprints of Tinseltown legends like Marilyn Monroe and John Wayne, travel about 4 miles north of Wilshire to the sidewalk in front of the iconic TCL Chinese Theatre. You can experience movie magic firsthand at Universal Studios, where interactive thrill rides are inspired by classic and contemporary films such as King Kong, Jurassic Park, and Transformers.

It was comfortable with a nice view. Waited in the lobby until 6:30 pm to be able to check-in, when check-in time confirms at 3 pm. It was also confirmed that overnight parking is a $50 flat rate, yet was charged $80 due to hidden fees. Overall, veunorganized and unprofessional, luckily it was clean.

The view couldn’t be beat and the staff was super friendly. However, my iPad was stolen- I think from my luggage when I stored it after checking out/ before leaving for the train station. Such a bummer.
