The structure is strong, especially for something that uses zips and velcro for joining the parts together. The large version has enough room for two cats, probably would hold three cats. We have five cats and at least two of them got in the house within an hour of putting it together. The heat seems fine as far as I can tell. We keep the cat house indoors. As for outdoors use, I think the outer materials would hold up against the weather. The heating pad I doubt would do well. For one, it is electrical. Two, the material is like scag carpet. I imagine that is why there are heavy clear plastic flaps (think pet door) velcroed over both of the entrances, to block rain from getting inside. In the large version, there are two entrances that face each other. One entrance is on the "back" and the other is on the "front." This would be perfect for stray cats .
The description said the house was water proof, but it isn't. We ended up getting a big size dog house and putting it inside it for our two feral cats. I was expecting the base to be more of a hard plastic or something to truly help keep the water out...but that was not the case with this. It did put together easily, but certainly can't be considered to be really warm enough if it is outside. Would be ok for a porch however.
This cat house is adorable, sturdy and well made. I’m in Florida so no snow to worry about but it does rain quite frequently and it’s had no leaks and stays nice and dry inside. Heated pad works great as well. I bought it for the feral cat that stays in my backyard and he started using it right away. I would definitely recommend this
I bought the smaller one last year and my cat loved it so much. I bought him the larger one this year since he is a larger cat and he likes it even better. The pad is heated on 2/3 of the base so if it is warmer out durring the day he lays on the unheated portion.
This is such a great product especially for the price. I bought this for some feral cats I feed on my porch every day when I saw the weather forecast for the following week with temperatures in the single digits and wind chill factor -15 degrees. Set up was simple and fast, very sturdy and well made and my cats stayed warm on the coldest night yet!
