About Rapidan Golf Club
Rapidan Golf Club lies on the historic Somerset Farm property along the banks of the Rapidan River, with views of the Blue Ridge Mountains on the horizon. The manor house from 1834, which sheltered pickets of General Robert E. Lee’s army during the Civil War, reminds visitors of the relaxed and refined lifestyle of traditional Virginia.
The semi-private 18-hole course, which winds through gently rolling woodlands and wetlands, is one of the most challenging in Virginia due to the slope rating of 138, but four sets of tees provide “playability” for golfers of every level. The course was designed by Jerry Slack, who masterfully incorporated the heritage of Somerset Farm’s natural terrain into its layout. The traditions of old Virginia are also preserved at Rapidan Grille, where guests can enjoy homemade country cooking while taking in the unecumbered view of the course.
