The Destination
Founded in 1541, the Chilean capital of Santiago is home to more than six million. Here, the Chilean National History Museum and the famed Presidential Palace are juxtaposed with a booming restaurant scene and trendy shopping centers. Santiago wows with neoclassical architecture, including the tallest building in Latin America, and the rapidly moving Mapocho River—all set against a backdrop of jagged Andean mountains.

To the south, however, the city melts away into a land untouched by time. The Chilean Lake District (aptly named for its smattering of immense and breathtaking lakes, each with its own unique composition and color) is a region of vast farmland and rolling hills that invite outdoor enthusiasts to cycle its bike-friendly byways on unforgettable treks. To the west and along the glistening Pacific coast, the Maipo Valley's vineyards showcase some of the most sought-after varietals in the world.

Get a taste of this majestic Chilean region on this 10-day trip to Santiago and the Chilean Lake District with six days of trekking, from OneSeed Expeditions.
