The Destination
The second-oldest town in Tennessee, Rogersville was first settled in 1775 by Davy Crockett's grandparents. Red brick Federal-style storefronts line its historic Main Street, formerly part of the Great Stage Coach Road that ran from Washington, DC, to Knoxville and the Cumberland Gap into Kentucky. Even today, the town celebrates its place in state history at the Hawkins County Courthouse, the Tennessee Newspaper and Printing Museum, and the geologically anomalous Ebbing and Flowing Spring.

The Digs
The newly renovated Hale Springs Inn is nestled in the heart of downtown Rogersville. It was built in 1824 by John A. McKinney, making it the state's oldest continuously operating inn. and hosted several presidents in its time, including Andrew Jackson. Each of the nine guest rooms has its own unique character, named after important figures in the history of the inn and surrounding area. Inside, you'll find antique furnishings, a plush bed, and a private bathroom, not to mention a DVD player and wireless Internet. The property is also home to a spa that offers a full menu of massages and facials. At dinnertime, on-site McKinney's Tavern—the only full-service bar in the county—serves casual fare like the shrimp and crab fettucini and Benton's bacon-and-cheddar burger fresh from the kitchen.
