From paella to Picasso paintings, the sizzling Spanish cities of Madrid and Barcelona have it all.

The Destination
A culturally enlightened country full of passion, Spain has an abundance of acclaimed architecture, imaginative cuisine, and awe-inspiring cities. Madrid—the embodiment of modern-day Spain—is a sprawling metropolis that casts Old World edifices in the neon glow of the 21st century. For every sleepy cobblestone street and flea market (Madrileños have been haggling at the Rastro for 500 years), there is a wide commercial boulevard buzzing with activity, from the trendy shoppers in Gran Via to club-hoppers in the Chueca and Huertas neighborhoods.

Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia off the Mediterranean Sea, embraces visitors with the same joy that emanates throughout the city. Here, the celebrated architecture of Gaudí takes center stage—and for good reason. His mosaic salamander and terrace glitter in the sun at Park Güell, while inside the Sagrada Familia cathedral, colorful pillars rise and branch off like ancient trees in a dense forest, supporting the vaulted roof. Beyond the city's artistic beauty, Barcelona's joyous cavalcade of restaurants, bars, and entertainment options stand ready to beguile visitors with a hefty dose of Spanish personality.

The Itinerary
day 1: Rest up for your Spanish adventure on a relaxing overnight flight to Madrid–Barajas Airport (MAD).

day 2: Upon arrival, make your own way to the hotel. Your first day in Madrid is free of scheduled activities, allowing you to explore the city as you please. Here, a palpable energy runs through the city streets and legendary nights are as common as the tapas bars on every corner.
Overnight at the Husa Princesa.

day 3: Rise, shine, and board your included hop-on, hop-off tour of Madrid. A double-decker bus will guide you along a fixed route featuring the most important monuments and tourist attractions. You can get off and on the bus as many times as you wish during the 24-hour validity of your ticket.
Overnight at the Husa Princesa. Breakfast included.

day 4: On your last day in Madrid, visit the Reina Sofia, where you're destined to spend a significant amount of time gazing at Picasso's famous anti-war painting, Guernica. Then, skip the siesta and instead shop at the stylish designer boutiques in the Salamanca District. Nibble on divine culinary creations at one of the popular tapas bars packed with a sophisticated crowd of the see-and-be-seen. Afterward, take to one of the many rooftop terrazas for unbeatable views of the bustling city below as you party late into the night (or early morning).
Overnight at the Husa Princesa. Breakfast included.

day 5: Board your domestic flight to Barcelona. You'll be greeted by a beguiling metropolis featuring the famed architecture of Gaudí and the influence of Spain's greatest artists. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel and spend the rest of the day on your own.
Overnight at Hotel Barcelona Center or Sunotel Central Barcelona. Breakfast included.

day 6: Go on your included walking tour of Barcelona's Gothic Quarter. The centre of the old city of Barcelona, this area stretched all the way to the seafront and features buildings that date back to the Middle Ages and even as far back as the Roman settlement of Barcelona.
Overnight at Hotel Barcelona Center or Sunotel Central Barcelona. Breakfast included.

day 7: Your final day in Barcelona will be spent at your leisure. Visit the iconic La Sagrada Familia—the still unfinished cathedral designed by Gaudí —spend hours in the Picasso Museum, or stroll through the many picturesque parks and gardens.
Overnight at Hotel Barcelona Center or Sunotel Central Barcelona. Breakfast included.

day 8: Make your own way to Barcelona–El Prat Airport (BCN) to board your return flight to the US, hopefully bringing back some of that famous Spanish sophistication and sizzle—and some souvenirs for the rest of us.
Breakfast included.
