The Destination
Most travelers aren't strangers to Nepal's swatch of the Himalayas: The majestic mountains have been gracing the covers of travel magazines for decades. But no number of glossy photos can capture the way the icy blue peaks warm to brilliant gold when you're perched at 15,000 feet at sunrise.

Make your way from the stupa-studded squares and vibrant alleys of Kathmandu to Phakding, a high-altitude combination of pristine forests and snow-capped peaks near Nepal's northern border. On your 14-day tea house trek, you'll ascend through terraced mustard fields and rhododendron forests to Everest Base Camp, which sits at an altitude of more than 17,000 feet. Around each bend in the trail, discover spectacular vistas of some of the Himalayan range's most famous mountains. Cozy tea houses adorned in prayer flags provide trekkers respite on the trail. A gradual descent past waterfalls and white-faced langur monkeys brings you ultimately to Lukla for celebratory beers and apple pie. This epic OneSeed Expedition to Nepal's most spectacular sanctuary is bound to leave you breathless—and not just because of the altitude.

The Itinerary
day 1: International flight to Nepal: Travelers purchasing the flight-included package will board a plane at their respective airport; travelers purchasing the land-only package will be responsible for arriving in Kathmandu on their designated trip start date.

day 2: Kathmandu (4,593ft/1400m): A OneSeed Expeditions representative will pick you up at the airport. Arrive in Kathmandu and check into the OneSeed partner lodge in the heart of the ancient city of Patan. Catch up on some much-needed sleep and venture out for some dinner on your own.
Overnight at Newa Chén.

day 3: Kathmandu (4,593ft/1400m): Spend the day exploring the Kathmandu Valley. Shake the jetlag with a visit to Swayambhunath, the "Monkey Temple". Take in the views of the city from atop one of the most important Buddhist stupas in Nepal before spending the afternoon exploring the city on your own. Join your fellow travelers for a welcome dinner banquet.
Overnight at Newa Chén. Breakfast and welcome dinner provided.

day 4: Kathmandu to Phakding (8,563ft/2610m): Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla. The flight takes about half an hour. From Lukla walk to the village of Phakding. This section will be around three to four hours long. On the way you'll pass by yaks as you trace the banks of the Dudh Koshi River. Upon arrival in Phakding, get your first taste of Himalayan life.
Overnight at a tea house. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided.

day 5: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (11,286ft/3440m): This difficult trek takes around five to six hours, but you'll struggle through it knowing you have a rest day in Namche. This is arguably the hardest day of the expedition, and you'll be exhausted by the time you reach the village of Namche.
Overnight at a tea house. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided.

day 6: Namche Bazaar (11,286ft/3440m): You'll spend a day in Namche for altitude acclimatization and rest before the next ascent. Spend your day hiking to Thami, or hiking the surrounding foothills of Sagarmatha National Park.
Overnight at a tea house. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided.

day 7: Trek from Namche to Tengboche (12,687ft/3867m): This segment includes the famous descent to the Dudh-Koshi River and the equally famous ascent along the rhododendron forests to Tengboche. Soak in views of Everest and Ama Dablam. Upon arrival in Tengboche, visit the local monastery and have a much-deserved cup of tea.
Overnight at a tea house. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided.

day 8: Tengboche to Dengboche (14,862/4530m): Descend into Dengboche for about four hours as you take in the mountain views along the trail.
Overnight at a tea house. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided.

day 9: Dengboche (14,862ft/4530m): Rest day in Dengboche. Spend the day hiking around nearby villages or resting on the tea house terrace with Ama Dablam soaring directly overhead.
Overnight at a tea house. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided.

day 10: Dengboche to Lobuche (16,207/4940m): A summer village nestled high in the Himalaya, Lobuche has become a major trekking stop along the trail to base camp.
Overnight at a tea house. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided.

day 11: Lobuche to Gorak Shep (16,942ft/5164m): This trek lasts about four hours. Follow the trail along the western side of the Khumbu Valley and the views of Mount Pumori — "Everest's daughter" — will accompany you. After a brief descent, reach Gorak Shep.
Overnight at a tea house. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided.

day 12: Gorak Shep (16,942ft/5164m): Reach Everest Base Camp (17,598ft/5364m)! This final stretch of the trek is an arduous four hours. Walk along the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier to reach base camp. Your destination is a flat field between Kala Pattar and Mount Pumori. You've arrived.
Overnight at a tea house. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided.

day 13: Gorak Shep to Pheriche (14,341ft/4371m): Begin your descent down the Khumbu Valley.
Overnight at a tea house. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided.

day 14: Pheriche to Khumjung (13,025ft/3970m): Khumjung is widely known as "the hidden valley" of the Khumbu and rests at the base of the sacred mountain Khumbilia.
Overnight at a tea house. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided.

day 15: Khumjung (13,025ft/3970m): Khumjung is the largest village in Khumbu. It boasts inscripted stone walls and chortens (Buddhist stupas). Khumbu's only secondary school, founded by Sir Edmund Hillary, is also found in this village. Take a short hike up to the monastery to view the yeti "scalp" at the Khumjung monastery.
Overnight at a tea house. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided.

day 16: Khumjung to Phakding (8,563ft/2610m): Continue your descent.
Overnight at a tea house. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided.
