The Destination
In recent years, Canmore, Alberta, has emerged from its history as a humble mining town into one of the best-kept secrets hiding in the Canadian Rockies. But, as a population of a few several thousand continues to grow, this is apparently a secret almost no visitor can keep. Set on the border of Banff National Park's East Gate in the Bow River Valley, Canmore is the distance of a skipped rock from some of the best sights in the area. In the winter months, world-class ski runs cut through the peaks while snowshoeing trails allow for mule deer and Rocky Mountain sheep sightings. In the summer, wildflowers bloom on hiking trails overlooking the famed Three Sisters Mountain Range, and downtown's pubs and boutiques make for cozy places to find some shade.

The Digs
The Georgetown Inn has been welcoming visitors to Canmore since 1993, through its Tudor English exterior and classic on-site pub would have you think it's been around much longer. The inn's most popular guest rooms—the Victoria Rooms—feature a sitting area, fireplace, plush king-size bed, and a two-person jetted tub. After a day spent exploring the natural beauty of both Canmore and Banff National Park, relax by the roaring fire in Miner's Lamp Pub with a plate of wings and two pints of beer. Then, retire to your individually decorated room to rest up for another day in the Rockies.
