Gilded castles and ancient Stonehenge—the history of Great Britain is a study in man-made magnificence.

The Destination
Centuries-old history mingles with the avant-garde in London, and cultures from around the world coalesce in a melting pot that never seems to stop boiling. Tradition and sophistication still reign, from the gates of Buckingham Palace to the Gothic grace of Westminster Abbey, but this influential metropolis is also teeming with innovation. A mecca for fine art, fashion, and food, this teeming megalopolis is, arguably, the world's financial and entertainment capital—and that's not even counting the breathtaking scenery of towns in the surrounding countryside, which have emerged as prominent filming locations for world-famous television shows and the silver screen.

Journey to the roots of modern civilization one day, and immerse yourself in a larger-than-life setting of a period television series in the next—all while staying at a 4.5-star property during this five-day tour, courtesy of go-today.

The Itinerary
day 1:
Arrive in London, and take some time to recover from jet lag.
Overnight at the Grange Tower Bridge Hotel.

day 2:
Spend the day getting to know the city at your leisure—the Tube, London's famous underground network, makes exploring almost anywhere a breeze.
Overnight at the Grange Tower Bridge Hotel. Breakfast included.

day 3:
Now that you've met London, you can enjoy the busy streets and iconic sights from your open-air seat on a vintage, double-decker bus. Score snapshot-ready views of Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, Downing Street, Trafalgar Square, Hyde Park, and more. Then, transfer to your cruise on the Thames, where you'll float by Shakespeare's Globe, Cleopatra's Needle, London Bridge, and Buckingham Palace. You'll end up at the 1,000-year-old Tower of London, a one-time prison that now houses the Crown Jewels (securely guarded by the famous Beefeaters).
Overnight at the Grange Tower Bridge Hotel. Breakfast included.

day 4:
Got your bucket list handy? Today, you'll take the trip out through gloriously verdant English countryside to Stonehenge, one of the most recognizable World Heritage Sites on the planet. Gain fast track entrance with your guide, who will walk you through the mysterious and mystical origins of this monument dating back 5,000 years. Now that you've gotten a little history under your belt, enjoy the scenic drive out to Bath, a Georgian city that invites leisure among its terraces, tea houses, and classic British pubs—providing plenty of options for lunch.
Overnight at the Grange Tower Bridge Hotel. Breakfast included.

day 5:
Leave the busy streets of London behind a second time with a day trip to Oxford, dubbed the "city of dreaming spires" for its soaring display of ethereal towers and buildings from every English architectural period. You'll be completely charmed by the world-famous university during a guided walking tour among its ivy-clad stone walls. Then, head over to the scenic village of Bampton—so scenic, in fact, that many shots from the period television drama Downton Abbey were filmed here. You'll be enchanted to recognize buildings from exterior shots in their full glory, and you'll even get a chance to purchase souvenir mugs, prints, and more from local artists. Finish up with a stop at Highclere Castle—built by the same architect as the Houses of Parliament in London, and another filming location for Downton Abbey—where you can tour the gorgeously manicured grounds or enjoy a cuppa in one of the lavish tea rooms.
Overnight at the Grange Tower Bridge Hotel. Breakfast included.

day 6:
Bid a fond farewell to your British home away from home, and board your return flight back to the colonies.
