Redefine "epic" with a Patagonian adventure packed with unique treks and astonishing views.

The Destination
Founded in 1541, the Chilean capital of Santiago is home to more than six million. Here, the Chilean National History Museum and the famed Presidential Palace are juxtaposed with a booming restaurant scene and trendy shopping centers. Santiago wows with neoclassical architecture, including the tallest building in Latin America, and the rapidly moving Mapocho River—all set against a backdrop of jagged Andean mountains.

More than 1,500 miles south of Santiago, Torres del Paine National Park has become one of the most visited parks in Chile, no doubt for its astonishing mountains, icy lakes, and immense glaciers. It spans the granite spires of the Torres del Paine peaks—partly frozen over by the massive Grey Glacier—as well as the verdant steppe below. You may have seen these rugged peaks in countless photographs, but you'll never shake the impression left by the real deal.

See two versions of Chile on this 11-day trip to Santiago and Torres del Paine National Park, with six days of trekking, from OneSeed Expeditions.

The Itinerary
day 1: santiago
A OneSeed staff member will greet you at Santiago's international airport, transporting you to your hotel just a stone's throw from La Moneda, Chile's Presidential Palace. The remainder of the day is free to explore the country's capital city.
Overnight at Casa Bonita Bed & Breakfast. Dinner provided.

day 2: wine tasting
Visit the Maipo Valley, known for its wine. After a brief hike around the area, tour a family-owned, organic vineyard, learn about the winemaking process, try your hand at making your own blend, and of course, taste away.
Overnight at Casa Bonita Bed & Breakfast. Breakfast and lunch provided.

day 3: hosteria las torres
In the morning, hop aboard a quick flight from Santiago to Punta Arenas. After touching down, a van will take you directly to Torres del Paine National Park, straddling the Andes Mountains and the Patagonian Steppe. Along the way, you'll take in the stark ocean views and golden plains before arriving at Puerto Natales and the park itself. Your group will spend the night just inside the park gates.
Overnight at a refugio in Torres del Paine National Park. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided.

day 4: start your trek
Your adventure truly begins today with eight hours of trekking. Ascend through a rocky terrain cut by glacial rivers clean enough to drink from. After a two-hour ascent, your group will arrive at a refugio surrounded on all three sides by rushing waters. You'll drop off any excess gear, then continue climbing through the lush lenga forest until you reach the base of the Torres del Paine ("Towers of Paine" in English). Another shorter climb will put you within meters of the Three Sisters—an iconic grouping of three granite monoliths—and the emerald lake that sits at its base.
Overnight at a refugio in Torres del Paine National Park. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided.

day 5: refugio los cuernos
After a demanding first day, you'll make your descent to Refugio Los Cuernos. You'll spend a majority of this part of the six- to seven-hour trek following a trail nestled between the turquoise-hued Lake Nordenskjöld and Mount Almirante Nieto.
Overnight at a refugio in Torres del Paine National Park. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided.

day 6: refugio paine grande
Embark on a challenging day of trekking, requiring upward of nine hours on the trail. The climb through old-growth forest will eventually lead you to the park's most impressive mirador ("viewpoint" in English). From the French Valley mirador, you'll have a perfect view of the park's horned peaks, including Cerro Hoja and Cerro Máscara, among many others. For those who prefer a less physically taxing day, opt for a shorter alternate route that gives you a lower vantage point, but only requires six or seven hours on the trail.
Overnight at a refugio in Torres del Paine National Park. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided.

day 7: refugio grey
Perhaps the most challenging day, your group will head toward Grey Glacier, an impressive ice field that covers the west end of the park. You'll spend approximately nine hours trekking, with Pehoé Lake and Grey Lake coming into view as you near the glacier.
Overnight at a refugio in Torres del Paine National Park. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided.

day 8: grey glacier
You'll make your way along the Grey Glacier to the Campamento Paso during your final day on the trail. The eight- to ten-hour trek is long, but the glacier and mountain vistas are among the best on the planet.
Overnight at a refugio in Torres del Paine National Park. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided.

day 9: puerto natales
After completing your expedition, spend a half-day in the park on your way back to civilization. A short three-hour walk brings you to Pehoé Lake, where a catamaran awaits to take you to Pehoé and Torres del Paine's exit road. At the exit, a van will pick you up for the scenic drive back to Punta Arenas. Check into your hostel in the heart of this colonial town, then gather with your fellow trekkers to share a farewell dinner at Aldea Restaurant.
Overnight at Hostal Amerindia. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided.

day 10: santiago
Fly from Punta Arenas back to Santiago for one last evening in the city.
Overnight at Casa Bonita Bed & Breakfast. Breakfast provided.

day 11: head home
Return to the Santiago airport to fly back to the US, where you can rest your tired muscles while recounting your unforgettable Patagonian adventure.
Breakfast provided.
