Step into a Moby-Dick inspired world with nautically themed drinks and New England bites
About This Deal
Step into the world of Moby-Dick at Quick Eternity, a newly opened cocktail bar at 22 Peck Slip in Manhattan’s historic South Street Seaport. Inspired by Herman Melville’s epic tale of obsession and the sea, the bar reimagines a 19th-century whaling inn—equal parts tavern, literary hideaway, and time capsule.
Inside, the atmosphere is unmistakably nautical: a polished driftwood bar, exposed brick walls, wooden floors, and a striking mural of the white whale, framed by what appears to be whalebone. Vintage copies of Moby-Dick are scattered throughout the space, lending a quiet, intellectual warmth to the wood-accented interior.
The bar takes its name from Melville’s own words:
''…yet to chase and point lance at such an apparition as the Sperm Whale was not for mortal man. That to attempt it, would be inevitably to be torn into a quick eternity.''
A haunting line—and a fitting tribute to the perilous allure of the sea.
Melville himself was born in Lower Manhattan on Pearl Street, just steps from where Quick Eternity now stands. That history infuses the bar’s spirit. Founder and bartender Bryan Schneider (formerly of Bad Roman), a lifelong devotee of Moby-Dick, has created a space that feels both literary and lived-in—transporting guests into Ishmael and Ahab’s world without ever feeling precious.
In the kitchen, Chef Antonio Mora (Morandi, Frankie’s Spuntino, among others) delivers New England–inspired small plates rooted in seaside tradition. The menu favors shareable bites that pair naturally with the bar’s inventive drinks—making the experience feel communal, convivial, and distinctly maritime.
