About Bake It Till You Cake It by Cheryl
Even as a little girl, I loved to create (and eat) sweets! I was blessed with not just one sweet tooth, but every tooth in my mouth dedicated to sweets. I am sweet-teethed, if you will. There are fewer sweets that I love as much as frosting. And while I don’t remember the moment I realized you could make frosting look like everyday items good enough to eat - this is long before Is it Cake? aired - but, I do remember the feeling of creating something delicious and whimsical. There is something so magical about the face of a bakee that fills the heart of the baker to bursting. The truth is, I don’t consider myself a talented artist, but frosting, fondant, and gel coloring cover a wealth of errors that once consumed, are unavailable for deeper scrutiny. And that is what makes cake and cupcake decorating so safe for someone like me. That said, I also love a good fail! Like the picture below of my attempt to create a beautiful dragon atop a dusty, old book of spells. The book looks great, and by itself would be an excellent cake. However, the dragon went from bad to worse. I am told it looks more like a wolverine made of ground hamburger than a dragon. To me, it looks like sheer comedy and if there’s anything I love more than feeding people, it’s making them laugh. — Cheryl
