About The Chicago Actors Studio

The Chicago Actors Studio is a well-established, reputable, and highly-recommended acting training institution in the heart of the city with roots going back to 1946. CAS was formed when famous acting coach and performing arts icon Ted Liss (Child's Play, Mahogany) decided to share his masterful skills of turning ordinary individuals into top professional actors of stage, screen, and television. Following his passing in 1992, his former student Edward Dennis Fogell (Sad Affairs, Paradise Lost, Paradise Found) carried Ted's teachings and legacy forward, cultivating many more fine professionals of the arts.

Today, the studio offers a plethora of training that contributes to the well-rounded actor, including audition workshops, monologue and cold reading training, on-camera training, and even accent reduction classes, all within a cozy Northside studio.

Notable Alumni

  • Tom Bosley (Happy Days, Father Dowling Mysteries)
  • Geraldine Page (Oscar winner for The Trip to Bountiful)
  • Billy Campbell (Crime Story, The Rocketeer)
  • Robert Urich (Spenser: For Hire, The Lazarus Man)
