I played with my 10 year old and 8 year old, and we had a really good time. It was also a great excuse to get them out of the house and get some exercise. Toward the end we got a couple calls from the "Chief" pretty much telling us to hurry up, which wasn't helpful, but overall it was great. My 10 year old even asked me to purchase another mystery.
Great for the grouping price. It would have been more fun if we would have split up groups.
YouSleuth is decent. We were expecting a little more location-based detective work (e.g.: find this landmark or address in your city); instead it was going around to "interview" a series of computer-generated "suspects" on our phone, to try and gather evidence. Phone calls from "the Chief" became increasingly frequent, and decreasingly helpful: "I'm counting on you to solve this case!" (We know; could you please shut up and let us go back to interviewing the "suspect/witness?")
Make sure you begin with a full battery on your phone (or perhaps even an external battery pack - this thing eats electrons!)
You also may benefit from having headphones, so that you can hear it on a noisy city street, and perhaps don't look as much like a crazy person talking to phobots.
We played as a couple, which worked generally well; I think this game could get unwieldy with more than 2 players per "case," but that is speculation. This was a great way to kill a couple of hours and get some steps in on a lovely afternoon; I'd like to see some layers of sophistication added before I give it a 5-star review, or am likely to be eager to play it again.
