Heavy-duty, not flimsy, the blender is just that, a blender. It works well, mixing thoroughly and handles what I give it. No cubes of ice (although crushed will work), no meat (stringy), no hot liquids However, the instructions, such as they are, are not helpful. "Open top cap (not strainer)" does not address that fact that there is a (light plastic) "lock" that has "prongs" which fit into the strainer. It must be lined up correctly so that the prongs are able to slide toward the center, impossible to see if you have a full load of liquid and it is hard to tell when you are exactly in the right alignment. I was only able to see the position by opening the clear central cylinder and LOOKING through it to the lid, which, of course, you cannot do without spilling everything out if it is full. You must pinch the clear plastic "lock" so that the prongs are retracted, and then HOLD IT while turning the lid with the other hand - all while keeping it from tipping. It is VERY DIFFICULT to turn, at least for me. You must hold the lock through all the turns, and I had to let go and reposition my hold keeping the prongs retracted with each turn. I ended up wrapping the "lock" with a rubber band and THEN turning the lid. The label on the side of the container states “Child safety cap requires adult to open” but there ARE NO ILLUSTRATIONS OR INSTRUCTIONS TO SAY HOW!! There is no straw port, and no pouring spout so you are supposed to POUR LIQUIDS OUT into a drinking container (glass, cup), although you could drink out of the clear mixing cylinder, once you get the top off, but would, of course still be connected to the base. With the base on it though it is heavy, so that might be a problem. Why it has a carry strap is a question, since drinking from it "on the run" would be problematic. So . . I like the power and portability of the blender, but would use it for traveling rather than “on-the-go”. Good for an office setting, where you could load up your ingredients, pop it in the refrigerator, then mix things when you want them. It’s loud, with the strong motor, so you will not be able to use it at your desk without attracting attention. So, in summation, 4 stars for its power and heavy-duty components (except the strainer lock), I left off a star for not being able to sip from it or use a straw. But that’s just me.
