hotel description

The Destination
Tucked within the swirling mists of the Great Smoky Mountains, the honky-tonk town of Gatlinburg pulses with the sounds of twangy musical theater, state-of-the-art arcade games, and fun-loving families. Despite being surrounded by the nation's most-visited national park, pine groves and snow-dusted peaks aren't the only things to see in this East Tennessee community. Gatlinburg's streets are lined with mom-and-pop candy shops, brisket restaurants, and quirky museums. Wandering around the town's center turns up all sorts of pleasant oddities, from hillbilly golf to a giant sea turtle.

The Digs

Glenstone Lodge is only a short trolley ride away from the knee-slapping entertainment of downtown Gatlinburg. Each of the lodge's family-friendly rooms features a flat-screen TV, recently updated furniture, and Wi-Fi access. Fuel up for a mountain afternoon with home-fried potatoes, biscuits and gravy, and omelets from the property's breakfast buffet. If you're in the mood for a low-key day, the on-site putt-putt course and two indoor pools ensure that you needn't go far to make great memories.

Because I had booked through Priceline, I couldn't cancel and leave. Also, we didn't arrive until 6:00pm and I didn't know if we could find another hotel. There is NOTHING about this hotel that warrants it receiving 3 stars. It MIGHT have been acceptable at two stars but even that would be stretching things. I have never been this disappointed in Priceline and this makes me not want to use them again. This was unlike ANY 3 star hotel I've ever stayed in. Again, I would have asked for a refund had it not been for my booking through Priceline. Oh, and I only saved $20 by booking through Priceline. This was NO deal!
pros: The pool was the ONLY thing I liked about the hotel.
cons: The room had marks on the ceiling and the walls. It was sorely in need of a paint job. The bed was uncomfortable and the sheets smelled musty. The room and common areas had a musty smell. There were spiders in the bathtub.
