The Destination
Put the "great" in Great Lakes when you pack up your wolf pack and trek to Traverse City's Great Wolf Lodge. Here, everyone from toddlers to teens can go wild at the 39,000-square-foot indoor water park, where the temperature hovers around a balmy 84 degrees. Kids can jump on an inner tube and slide down Alberta Falls, mosey through the lazy river of Crooked Creek, and zip down the three-story water slides of Totem Towers. Later, duck oncoming sprays at Fort Mackenzie and play a game of water basketball in the Chinook Cove Activity Pool before drying off for the host of other attractions.

The Digs
Cubs run the show at Great Wolf Lodge—just look at the kid-friendly accommodations. The Wolf Den, KidKamp, and KidCabin suites feature a fun in-room cave, tent, or cabin with bunk beds inside, as well as a normal queen-size bed for Mom and Dad. All rooms, including the Premium suites, have at least one TV, a full bathroom, microwave, fridge, and other convenient amenities. Best of all, the Lodge is just five minutes from the sandy shoreline of Traverse City, so it's easy to bundle up and get outdoors to watch the sun set over Lake Michigan.

The Diversions
When it's time for drier activities, head to the interactive MagiQuest, which gives kids a magic wand to use against goblins while searching for hidden treasure. Scooops Kid Spa pampers kids with ice cream-themed manicures and other treatments. At dinner time, even picky eaters will howl with delight at the options available in the massive menu at the Camp Critter Bar & Grill. Family fun night needn't take a big bite out of your budget—let this untamed Escape throw you a bone.

  • "This is the place to take young kids. The entire site is dedicated to the younger children. Great vacation."

  • "Everyone should visit Great Wolf Lodge at least once in their lives!"
