Explore Cusco and Lima, then hike and camp along the Inca Trail on this eight-day tour of Peru.

The Destination
From the Norte Chico to the Inca Empire, Peru is home to some of the most ancient civilizations in the world. Mystical, magical, and multi-ethnic, this South American nation is a melting pot of diverse traditions that have influenced every aspect of its art, cuisine, literature, and musical expressions.

Begin your journey in the historic capital of the Inca Empire—Cusco. Here, visitors traverse 500-year old streets, through massive outdoor markets and past spirited music and dance troupes. The city also serves as the gateway to Machu Picchu, the astonishingly beautiful ruins at the apex of the Inca Trail.

Discover the many faces of this ancient nation with an eight-day trip, courtesy of Kaypi Peru Tours and Adventures.

The Itinerary
day 1:
Take off on your overnight flight from Miami to Lima.

day 2:
After your arrival in Lima, you'll take a connecting flight to Cusco, where a Kaypi representative will pick you up and take you to the hotel. Spend the rest of the day exploring Cusco at your leisure.
Overnight at Maytaq Wasin Hotel or Taypikala Hotel in Cusco.

day 3:
The day will begin with a guided walking tour of Cusco. Along the way, you'll visit Plaza de Armas, Plaza Nazarenas, the San Blas neighbourhood, the Twelve Angle Stone, Plaza San Francisco, and the Mercado Central de San Pedro. The afternoon is free of scheduled activities, giving you time to see the city on your own.
Overnight at Maytaq Wasin Hotel or Taypikala Hotel in Cusco. Breakfast provided.

day 4:
After breakfast, you'll take a bus to the starting point of your Inca Trail hike. The first day hike is relatively easygoing, in order to help you settle in to the trek. Climbing gently up the Cusichaca Valley, you'll pass by the Inca site of Llactapata, enjoy great views of the snow-capped peak Veronica, and get to see a variety of native birds and plant life throughout the day.
Overnight in a tent on the Inca Trail. Lunch and dinner provided.

day 5:
This is considered by many to be the hardest day of the trek: You'll cross two high passes and cover nearly ten miles on this part of the hike. Kaypi's team of enthusiastic guides and porters—as well as the incredible views—will provide the morale and support you need to make it.
Overnight in a tent on the Inca Trail. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided.

day 6:
You'll cover a shorter distance today, as you cross Inca Flat's gentle ascents and descents while taking in the sight of the cloud forest surrounding you. You'll arrive at Winay Wayna in early afternoon and take a guided tour of the site before settling in for the night.
Overnight in a tent on the Inca Trail. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided.

day 7:
After waking up early to get to the Machu Picchu checkpoint, you'll trek to the Sun Gate to see fantastic views of the site. Your group will go on a two-hour guided tour of Machu Picchu, then you'll get some time to explore the site on your own. In the afternoon, you'll take a train back to Ollantaytambo, then a bus back to Cusco.
Overnight at Maytaq Wasin Hotel or Taypikala Hotel in Cusco. Breakfast provided.

day 8:
Transfer to the airport to board your flight from Cusco to Lima, then catch your flight from Lima to Miami.
Breakfast provided.
