From the moment we stepped into the hotel we were treated like royalty. The segway from front desk arrangements to the trip to the room was seamless. When we got to the room it was spotless roomy and well put together. The Balcony gave us a beautiful view of the ocean and all the room accessories worked perfectly. Relaxing by the pool we never had to wait more than 3 minutes before a server was attending to us. The area around the pool was beautifully landscaped and kept clean at all times. The food at all of the restaurants was spectacular. Hotel food usually just isn't hat good. There are seven restaurants at the Hotel which adjoins the Casa Magna and we ate at 5 out of the 7 and they were all great. The award winning Gustino is not to be missed. Sedona and the SASI Thai restaurant were also unbelievable for both food and service. We made the trip to see if Mexico was really as dangerous as made out to be in the media. We did not find that so. We made several trips out to dive sites and other places on the mainland and were reassured by a undeniable police presence. We feel that without question we will bring our kids with us next time. I cannot say enough about the Hotel staff. Most of the staff we ran across remembered our names after only two days. At the restaurants we were always given the best available table or given our choice. These people have got their act together. If you are traveling to the area I would definitely recommend this Hotel as the place to stay.
pros: This hotel restored my faith in the star rating of hotels. It was every bit the 5 stars it is rated.
cons: Nothing.

J.W. is a well kept hotel with clean rooms and great views of the ocean. We enjoyed the multiple pools and appreciated the lack of crowds when we visited in early June. We didn't like the fact that the hotel was away from the more built-up areas in the north of the Hotel zone. We did not have an all-inclusive package and dining at the hotel, neighboring CasaMagna resort, or any restaurant within walking distance was uniformly expensive, minimum $50 for lunch and $100 for dinner for two. The hotel also charges for absolutely everything, including spa facilities like the steam room and even incoming phone calls. $3 a minute to phone our local tour operator?? The staff seemed to only know how to direct you to the hotels own services rather than recommending any outside alternatives. No need to book a shuttle back to the airport, taxi's are plentiful and cheaper (about 350 pesos).
pros: Great view, nice pools and landscaping
cons: Relatively remote location. Everything was extra. Only place to eat was at the hotel restaurants, which were very expensive.
