About Lazenby's Decorative Arts Studio

It was more than 12 years ago that Rik Lazenby threw caution to the wind and a lucky rabbit’s foot over his shoulder and struck out on his own to follow his dream of owning his own arts studio. After serving as an art teacher and school administrator for 32 years, Rik decided to transition his artistic background into a career in decorative arts. To sharpen his skills, he traveled from Dallas to Verona, Italy to study at Safra Colors, a premier manufacturer of Italian plasters and also headed to Louisville to study with Martin Alan Hirsch of The Faux Finish School. And at home in Dallas, he honed his skills under the tutelage of Doyle Self of the School of Italian Plasters. Now a professional decorative artist specializing in faux finishes and specialty plasterwork, he works with clients to add unique, aesthetically pleasing color and accents to their homes. Lazenby also shares his skills with students of all skill levels during painting classes.
