The horses were clearly tired and were not listening. It felt unsafe.

Come properly dressed. The hosts and tour guides were amiable folks. Building area could use a renovation.

The ride was a big disappointment. There were too many people on the ride and too many different levels of ability. All we did was ride up a hill and then back down. The parking lot was wet and muddy. The buildings were very "run down". I am glad I only spent $17.00 for this ride because it wasn't even worth that much.

We had a wonderful time! Gorgeous scenery and gentle horses. And love the pig!

Ride was not as long it was supposed to be. Our guide was a bit of a show-off, and that was a bit uncomfortable.

I didn't even get offered the hot chocolate and the management was rude, I had the most difficult time getting my appointment scheduled because they never answered the phone. The wranglers were awesome though.

They were nice, and well prepared, just seemed a shorter ride straight up to the top and then we just kind of sat up there with the guide watching his watch... then we came back down. Animals were a fun treat; but the trail guide made many comments about how little pay he got and how he relied on tips..

The staff seemed pretty accommodating for the group of riders (12?), including our immediate group of 3 adults and 2 kids (8 &12). Two wranglers led the group, one in front & one toward the back. Having previous riding experience, I appreciated that the one wrangler (Joe?) allowed me to not just do the tail-to-nose ride, and even informed me that they have an experienced rider option, which I'll be doing soon. Hopefully will be able to get the same steed... :-)

From Our Editors

The veteran equestrians at Estes Park Horseback Riding let riders get an up-close look at the picturesque property of Elkhorn Lodge during year-round trail rides. The lodge perches on the border of Rocky Mountain National Park, and horseback-riding excursions consequently wind past several spectacular sights, including the Continental Divide and Old Man Mountain, easily distinguished by its inability to operate its smartphone. During winter months, snow-dusted paths stretch before riders, whereas spring and summer adventures trot along trails dappled with sunlight. Estes Park Horseback Riding encourages guests to tote along cameras to capture scenic views and potential sightings of elk, bighorn sheep, and other animals roaming through the area.
