Carnivore BBQ pit master Steve Adelson says good barbecue is an art and a science and has been feature on the cover of City Paper. It all starts with dry rubs. The pork gets a simple rub before entering the smoker, eventually emerging tender, juicy, and rimmed with an unmistakable smoke ring. The meats are piled onto an Uptown Bakery bun and slathered with homemade barbecue sauce available in five different flavors. Carnivore BBQ now features four active DC food trucks.

Although the pork sandwich I had was very good, it was not worth $11.00. The price from the food truck for this same item is $10.00, which I judge the fair price to be $8.00. The sandwich is a la carte.

Great food. Should consider as a carry-out. Contained in a small pizza store front. But remember, the BBQ is delicious and the baked beans were great.

The Deerwood location is at Sam's Pizza and Subs. I would have never found it unless I called. No sign at all. But it was well worth it.

Come hungry! The food is delicious, and it is served in generous quantities. The premises are informal, and Steve, the pit-master, knows well the art of smoking.
