About Allison Lal Photographer

A couple gazes down at their child as light streams in through the window behind them. Surrounded by trees, a beaming daughter places her hand on her mother's pregnant belly. Elsewhere, a toddler curiously examines a purple flower in the middle of a grassy field. These are just a few of the many images preserved by photographer Allison Lal. Often swapping the harsh flashes of studio bulbs for natural light, Lal is able to capture glints of sunshine off a newborn's pensive smile as the baby looks at a goofy face or ponders the nuances of the Pythagorean theorem. In addition, her photojournalistic approach produces intimately candid shots that capture families as the platonic ideal of a cohesive, loving team.
