Founded in 1990, Alamo Community Group (ACG) is a non-profit to provide affordable housing to working families and veterans in San Antonio and Bexar County. Now, as a way to give back and further support the community, the House Our Heroes Veterans Assistance Program provides stable housing, extensive supportive services, and temporary financial assistance to homeless veterans and veteran families at risk of homelessness. The proceeds of their annual House Our Heroes SA 5K Run help benefit ACG’s homeless veterans program. While being cheered on by volunteers and local celebrities, runners circle Woodlawn Lake Park, a 100-year-old natural oasis centrally located in San Antonio. It was a great gathering, run and experience. I was surprised there wasn't as many people as before but I was greatfull for the company that was there!

This was a good cause to run for but the website was not user-friendly. It did not give enough information and there was no way for you to indicate your shirt size online. You had to get there and hope they had your size. There also wasn't a clear description of the running/walking path. I thought it read 3 times around Wood Lawn lake when in reality it was only 2 times that day of. The website could really be updated and managed better. They had great sponsors, a great DJ and good turnout.
