About Queen of Sheba

Much like its eponymous ruler sought to bridge two cultures, Queen of Sheba strives "to bring together DC's Ethiopian and American communities with a menu that draws from both countries' traditions." This statement from the staff sums up their commitment to community, a commitment made tangibly delicious through Ethiopian specialties and a few American ones, too. Diners sop up shareable platters of lamb and spicy vegetarian stews with spongy injera bread, but can also order grilled chicken sandwiches, cheeseburgers, and pasta.

Food was pretty good, servings were plentiful, very casual atmosphere, the only real downside was the limited English the waitress spoke and understood.

Although the food was good, the service was lacking. We asked the waitress a few questions about the menu and she had a hard time answering them which was frustrating. She was not attentive with refilling our waters (and our food was spicy!) or meeting our requests (we had to ask twice for extra sauce, etc.) There was also a man that walked in that appeared to know the employees and he had music just playing out loud from his cell phone which was both annoying and distracting. Overall, the food was yummy especially for the price but because of the other issues I would probably chose other Ethiopian places in the city next time.
